What is CLM?

Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) An ongoing process in which service users or communities gather & analyze information to support QI and advocacy in order to increase uptake of and retention to HIV and related services and, to improve health outcomes.

CLM is a process in which communities, particularly those most affected by health issues like HIV, TB, and malaria, take the lead in monitoring the availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of health services. The goal of CLM is to ensure that health services are responsive to the needs of the community and that any gaps or issues in service delivery are identified and addressed.

In CLM, community members collect data, often through surveys, interviews, or focus groups, and use this information to advocate for improvements in health services. This approach empowers communities to hold health service providers and policymakers accountable, ensuring that services are equitable and effective.

Objectives

  • To assess successes and barriers – HIV services
  • To identify solutions – overcome these barriers
  • To initiate dialogue and community advocacy aimed at improving uptake and service
